Agoda's own Partner Hub pages do not agree on its photo rules. One article lists a 4 MB cap and JPG or PNG files. Another says each photo should be under 10 MB and JPG only. Both ask for at least 800 x 600 px, but only one names 2048 x 1536 px as the best size for display. This guide labels every number by where it comes from, so you know what to export for an Agoda listing.
Agoda Photo Requirements at a Glance
| Requirement | What to follow | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum size | At least 800 x 600 px; higher is better | Agoda Partner Hub, both photo articles |
| Best size | 2048 x 1536 px for display | Agoda Partner Hub, upload article |
| Aspect ratio | Not stated by Agoda. 800 x 600 and 2048 x 1536 both work out to 4:3 | Our arithmetic |
| Orientation | Landscape only | Agoda Partner Hub, photography article |
| File types | JPG and PNG in one article; JPG/JPEG only in the other | Agoda Partner Hub, two articles that disagree |
| File size | 4 MB per photo in one article; under 10 MB each in the other | Agoda Partner Hub, two articles that disagree |
| Upload batch | 100 MB maximum in total per upload | Agoda Partner Hub, upload article |
| Photo count | At least 1 photo and 1 main photo to register; at least 24 property photos recommended | Agoda Partner Hub, upload article and photo guide |
| Room photos | 4 to 6 per room type, at least 3 of the whole room and 1 of the bathroom | Agoda Partner Hub, photo guide |
| Other figures quoted | 1024 x 683 px as an OTA reviewer floor; 2048 x 1365 px for an OTA primary photo; 2048 x 1536 px with at least 10 photos | Amenitiz and Your.Rentals channel-manager help pages, not Agoda |
We found no Agoda statement on DPI or color profile, only a request for color photos with natural tones. We also did not open Agoda's connectivity API documentation, which may set its own limits for software partners, so let the live upload screen in the Partner Portal have the final say.
Why Agoda Photo Numbers Disagree
Three things stack up. Agoda splits its photo advice across several Partner Hub articles written for different jobs: one walks you through the upload and lists file limits, another teaches you how to shoot and lists its own technical requirements. The upload article shows a more recent update stamp than the photography article, so 4 MB looks like the current cap, but we cannot confirm which figure the upload screen enforces. And channel managers that sync photos to several travel sites add their own floors on top. The good news is that Agoda's two sizes share a ratio, because 800 x 600 and 2048 x 1536 are both 4:3. You do not have to settle the argument: export to a size and weight that clears every figure and it stops mattering.
What Agoda Wants in Your Gallery
- At least 1 photo to register, with one main photo selected. Agoda's photo guide recommends at least 24 photos for the property itself.
- Property photos: at least 2 of the exterior, 2 of the lobby or entrance and 2 of each key facility, such as restaurants and bars, the pool, spa or fitness areas and outdoor activities.
- Room photos: 4 to 6 photos of every room type, with at least 3 showing the whole room and 1 of the bathroom.
- Two kinds of main photo: one for the property, an exterior or a standout interior, and one for each room type, showing the bed area from its best angle.
- Tags: Agoda asks you to assign a category and tag to your photos, and its Content Score guidance says to tag at least one photo for cleanliness and one for each facility group.
What Agoda Says to Avoid
The photography article lists what to keep out of the frame. It is worded as guidance rather than a published rejection list, but treat it as the bar your photos are judged against:
- Road signs or parked cars in the shot.
- People or animals.
- Other companies' logos.
- Seasonal decorations.
- Messy or dirty facilities and poorly lit scenes.
- Near-identical shots of the same space from a different angle.
- Misleading pictures of landmarks or views you cannot see from the property.
How Agoda Handles Your Main Photos
- The main photo does the selling. Agoda says it is often the deciding factor in whether a traveler clicks through from search results.
- You can only change the main photos by hand. The upload article says only the property main photo and each room type's main photo can be set manually, so you cannot reorder the rest of the gallery.
- Batch uploads work. Select several files at once, up to 100 MB in total per upload.
One Master Spec for Agoda (and Booking.com, Vrbo and Airbnb)
- Export JPEG, landscape, 4:3, at 2048 x 1536 px and under 4 MB. That clears Agoda's 800 x 600 px minimum, its 2048 x 1536 px best size, the 4 MB cap, the JPG-only rule and the 1024 x 683 px and 2048 x 1365 px figures that channel managers quote.
- Keep a larger master for other platforms. The 2048 x 1536 px copy clears the minimums in our Booking.com photo requirements guide, our Vrbo photo requirements guide and our Airbnb photo requirements guide. But Booking.com prefers 4000 x 3000 px, Vrbo's ideal is 3840 x 2160 px and Airbnb favours 3:2, so keep a bigger original and downsize a copy for Agoda.
- Shoot at least 24 photos of the property and 4 to 6 of every room type, including 3 of the whole room and 1 of the bathroom.
- Choose the main photos deliberately: your best exterior or key facility for the property, and your best bed-area angle for each room type.
- Keep people, cars, signs, other brands' logos and near-duplicates out of the frame.
- Keep an unedited original of every photo.
Fixing Agoda Photos That Fail or Fall Flat
Most weak hotel and rental photos come down to two problems: the wrong size or file type, and bad light. Both are cheap to fix before you upload.
- Wrong size, format or file weight: our image conversion service resizes, reformats and renames a batch to spec from $0.19 per image, or $0.39 when a color mode or DPI change is also needed.
- Dark rooms, blown-out windows or a grey sky: our real estate photo editing service runs Basic HDR at $1.49 per image, Enhanced at $2.49 with sky replacement and window pull, and Virtual Twilight at $4.99. For what each edit does, see our HDR, sky replacement and virtual twilight guide.
As a worked example, a small hotel with 24 property photos and 3 room types at 5 photos each is 39 photos. Basic HDR on all 39 is 39 x $1.49, so $58.11. Adding a resize and reformat pass on the same 39 files is 39 x $0.19, so $7.41, for $65.52 in total.
Edit the light, never the property. Agoda asks for inviting but accurate photos and warns against misleading pictures of views you cannot see from the property. Our recommendation: fix exposure, windows, color and perspective, and leave out anything that changes what a guest will find, such as removing a stain, a fixture or a view.

FAQ
What size should Agoda photos be?
Agoda's Partner Hub says at least 800 x 600 pixels, and names 2048 x 1536 pixels as the best size for display. Export a landscape JPEG at 2048 x 1536 px (4:3) and you clear both figures, plus the 1024 x 683 px floor that channel managers quote.
What is the Agoda photo file size limit?
The Partner Hub article on completing property photos lists 4 MB per photo and 100 MB per upload. The photography article says each original should be under 10 MB. Keep every file under 4 MB and both are covered.
Does Agoda accept PNG photos?
One Partner Hub article lists JPG and PNG, while another says JPG/JPEG only. JPEG is the safe choice, so export your gallery as JPEG unless the upload screen tells you otherwise.
How many photos does an Agoda listing need?
You need at least 1 photo with a main photo selected to register. Agoda's photo guide recommends at least 24 photos for the property and 4 to 6 for every room type, including at least 3 of the whole room and 1 of the bathroom.
Can I upload vertical photos to Agoda?
Agoda's photography article says to use landscape orientation only, because horizontal photos look better on the property page. Keep portrait shots for other channels and shoot a horizontal version for Agoda.
